Free and confidential intellectual property (IP) clinic launched in Edinburgh

Hindles, a UK firm of patent and trade mark attorneys have launched a free and confidential quarterly intellectual property (IP) clinic from their George Street office in Edinburgh.

Whether it’s patents, trade marks or design rights, Hindles IP specialists are happy to discuss all aspects of intellectual property (IP). The clinic is ideal for anyone with an IP question.

Founding Director Dr Alistair Hindle said “So often, intellectual property is a topic that innovators don't think about until it is too late, or until they have a problem. We hope that our clinics will help some innovative businesses to get ahead of the curve and think about their IP early".

Senior Patent Attorney Rebecca Douglas and Senior Trade Mark Attorney Liz Lowe will be leading the IP clinics alongside UK and European Patent Attorney Jemma Brown and Trainee Trade Mark Attorney Alix de La Motte-Broöns.

In 2017, Dr Rebecca Douglas joined the profession with Hindles as a trainee and in 2024 she was promoted to senior patent attorney.

Rebecca Douglas comments “I hope that we can reach people and around Edinburgh (and beyond!) and help them to get answers to questions they may have about IP, and how protecting their IP could help their business. I worry that some businesses put off thinking about their IP, especially in the early days, because it can be complicated, and they don't have time to think about it properly. The problem is that they then miss out on opportunities. I hope that the clinic will provide a chance to have a more informal and relaxed chat about IP and will help attendees to make sure they get a chance to protect the things that are most important to them.”
