Fiona has an academic and professional background in languages and translation, having obtained an undergraduate degree in Russian and Slavonic Studies from the University of Glasgow and a postgraduate degree in Applied Translation Studies from the University of Leeds. She began her career in the translation industry as a project manager, where she was responsible for the delivery of multilingual website translation and localisation projects. Fiona has also spent time in Moscow, where she worked as a translator and editor, and taught English for business to clients in Russian and multinational companies.
She joined the legal sector in 2016 as an administrative team leader at a leading Scottish law firm, before joining Hindles as a paralegal in 2017 to progress her career within the field of intellectual property.
Fiona provides support to clients on the management of their intellectual property portfolios, including assessing trade mark registrability, drafting and advising on trade mark specifications, preparing and filing UK and international trade mark applications, drafting and filing responses to examination reports and other official correspondence, assisting with trade mark opposition, invalidation and revocation proceedings, corresponding with attorney associates and intellectual property offices around the world, and many other aspects of trade mark practice and client care. She is also involved with registered design work.
